KAROLA TORKOS

Karola Torkos has created these playful, colourful necklaces by ironing plastic beads, which she purchased in a toyshop. The works are strongly reminiscent of textiles. One of the necklaces was in fact inspired by traditional Hungarian embroidery – her father is Hungarian. another source of inspiration was an exhibition about Indian art in london.

There she discovered that some Indian people believe that not only the eyes but the entire body has perceptive capabilities. She therefore created necklaces that can be worn in two different ways. This means that one ‘good’ side is always turned towards the body.
